Take a ‘dunk’ with the National Doughnut Challenge!

2009 sees the seventeenth national doughnut week to be held which raises funds for The Children’s Trust. Join in and help disabled children. National Doughnut Week is held this year from May 9th -16th 2009.
Arguably the nation’s tastiest fundraiser, National Doughnut Week has been supporting children’s charities since 1992.
Doughnuts were first eaten by the Egyptians between 4,000 and 5,000 BC. But the ringed doughnut originated in 1874. American sea captain Hanson Gregory feared losing his doughnuts overboard in a storm – so he impaled them on the spokes of a wheel.
Crafters, Bakers, get baking and creating and you lovely people get buying and help raise funds for a very special charity
The Children’s Trust organisers hope every one will make doughnuts in a variety of materials and support the charity. If you know someone who deserves a treat, don’t loaf about, purchase a crafty doughnut from woollywotnots and friends. You will find details of links to items to buy from the woollywotnots facebook fan page (once we’ve made them!) and pictures will be displayed on the flickr group.
Any money donated on the justgiving website goes directly to the Children’s Trust.
The challenge is to make anything with a doughnut theme, sell it and donate the profits or if you like, simply make a donation direct. Display your doughnut pictures on the flickr group and on the facebook page and the overall winner will win a doughnut themed goodie bag courtesy of woollywotnots. Woollywotnots will choose the winner of the best looking doughnut creation. We are aiming to raise £300 for The Children’s Trust.
