My Creative Space

Over on Kootoyoo, everyone is sharing their creative space. I recommend you having a read of Kirsty’s blog. She is a very crafty lady with lots to share. Her blog is jam-packed and she is very generous with sharing ideas.

My main craft is knitting and the beauty of this is that you can knit anywhere.

All I need is my knitting bag with wool, needles and my little house.

Here’s my favourite creative space – in the conservatory looking out onto the garden and watching the birds coming and going! DSCF2100

Here’s what has been recently happening in my creative space and here’s where I find everyday inspiration.

I’ve recently been dejunking so my creative space is now all tidy in glass bookcases. I like to keep my wool supplies all tidy and protected from dust.

I love using wooden wine boxes and storing my wool in lidded baskets and also not to forget my gorgeous wooden trug for easy access of supplies!

  1. Love your colourful blog – it’s great fun! Thankyou for visiting my little corner of ‘blogland’ in the Outer Hebrides : )

  2. I love your creative space – so comfy. And I also love the pictures of the yarn. Yarn is so pretty – even before it is knit!

  3. Oh, your creative space is SUBLIME! You have a conservatory? I’m so jealous, it looks like such a beautiful, calming place to knit. All that gorgeous yarn is to die for!

Looking forward to more posts about your creative pursuits!

  4. Thank-you for your lovely comments about my creative space this week. So far my flickr account is mostly details of my actual studio if you would like to see it. I love your space with its windows and views. Your wool library is beautiful. I do not really knit but I fell recycled sweaters and felt designs so I am inspired by wool as a material.
While the yo-yo makers come with direction (which is what I used) this tutorial:http://www.lazygirldesigns.com/blog/?p=552 might prevent the learning pitfalls that I made. This tutorial could work if you want to make them without the Clover notion this blog:http://istitch.blogspot.com/2006/05/yo-yo-tutorial.html or this one: http://heatherbailey.typepad.com/photos/how_to_make_a_yoyo/index.html would be helpful. I find hand work with wool less exciting in the heat of an Ottawa summer, so the yo-yo’s are great and can make a perfect summer weight coverlet or blanket.

    • Hi Jenifir, thanks ever so much for all the links. I’ve never heard of yo-yos, but now feeling totally addicted to them and I haven’t even made one yet! :-) The tutorials are excellent and making a blanket has jumped to the top of my wish list now! :-) Thanks ever so much for taking the time out to explain more. I enjoyed looking through your flickr photos, what an exciting studio with so many interesting things. Felt designs is such a clever invention for recyling old sweaters. Betz White is the Queen of felting in my view! I’ll keep you posted on yo-yo progress!

  5. Those yarns are divine.

  6. Your conservatory looks like a lovely space to create. I am very impressed with how organised your yarns are.
