My Creative Space 5 – Tools of the Trade

Tools of the Trade

Tools of the Trade

Today my creative space shows all the tools I use. I have a box full of ribbon and a box full of eyes, noses, bells and teddy bear joints! My Cath Kidston threads tin is full of gorgeous coloured embroidery and sewing thread. I have an orange pom pom & tassle maker. I use pipe cleaners to form the skeleton shape of items I’m knitting. My knitting looms are a nice alternative to knitting needles and shown in the centre front of the photo are my circular needles and to the left, straight needles, double ended needles and to the right cable needles. Graph paper and felt tip pens are important tools for pattern designs. Also shown is my tape measure, knitting guage, buttons jar, stitch markers, point protectors, row counter, scissors, sewing needles and needle threaders, large safety pins for holding stitches and bobbins. I have a wooden fork which I use for making cords and a eyeletter hole punch for making felt circles to decorate toys with buttons or eyes. I also have a great little storage box for keeping all my tiny beads in for decorating knitted collectables.

Would love to see the tools of your trade. Add a link to the comments so that I can come and see.

Yours is always inviting! :-) Whenever I read your blog, I always want to call you by my sister’s name – if that is you in the right of the photo. My sister is the absolute double. When I first saw your blog I thought it was my sister! They always say everyone has a double!

    • Hi, Thanks for popping by. I think wooden knitting needles are the best and love something added to make it colourful and funky! Great to hear about the monkey goodies. :-)

  15. Lots of lovely tools – I would love to try wooden knitting needles, they look so much nicer to use than the metal ones I have :)

    • Hi Alison. The wooden knitting needles are lovely to work with. The metal ones give me blisters and resin ones are bendy and snap. You’ll have to treat yourself to a pair or enter my knitting needles competion (button on my homepage) to win a pair of my handmade jumbo knittng needles! :-)

  16. Oh wow, I’m thrilled by all the colour in your space, it’s wonderful. The tin of embroidery floss is delicious. I also love your creations I can see in the sidebar, especially that duckie with a beanie…
