Hey, if you haven’t already pop on over to Woollywotnots’ book club and sign up. It has just launched, it is free, so be in from the start!
You can display the above button on your blog. Spread the word!
There’s loads of great books to read. There are a choice of four each month, but you can choose to read and discuss whatever you like over on the forum, which has plenty of other things to chat about there too!
Woolly Wotnots Book Club is for those with a creative streak to expand their horizons through discussion of a choice of four set books each calendar month. You can choose to look at one, more or all four books each month to increase your knowledge and appreciation of a particular craft.
Every month there will be a choice of 3 books from different crafts plus one book which focuses on business ideas for those who wish to set up or expand their craft business or simply discover ideas to sell their crafts.
Joining the Woolly Wotnots Book Club will encourage you to try reading something new and allow exchange of assimilations of different ideas from the books.
It is a great place to learn new ideas whilst not being forced into a classroom and discover different interpretations of the ideas presented in a book.
Every month, discussion will be around five key topic starters, though anyone is free to start any discussion about the book they wish and for members to share anything they’ve made or a new idea they have implemented, as a result of reading one of the book club books.
I’ve chosen to read 1000 Artist Journal Pages by Dawn DeVries Sokol, as my first book. I’ve started to share my first thoughts about it over on the book club forum. If you’ve read the book or think it is a book you’d like to read or are interested in art journalling, the book club is a great place to join in.
I love the creative process involved in art journalling – pulling together words, images, thoughts, colours etc. I like the freedom involved in creating a personal journal, like a diary. It is a great way to tell your own life story. There’s freedom in illustrating your story in whichever way you like through photographs, magazine cuttings, momentos, sketches, painting, drawing etc. The book 1000 Artist Journal Pages by Dawn DeVries Sokol provides loads of ideas and inpsiration. It is a great way to find new meanings and insights through illustration.
Here’s some tips to art journalling:
1. Read about art journalling. The woollywotnots bookclub is a great place to start.
2. Be creative – recycle things like stamps, magazine cuttings, wrapping paper etc.
3. There’s no limit to how many art journals you keep – you can start art journals for news, dreams, goals, art, creative ideas, happiness, what happened in your life today, your mood, the weather, anything…!
4. If you’re stuck on what to write in your journal. Click here for some ideas by QuinnCreative
5. You can choose to journal based on a single sentence or have a theme. Read these links for great prompts for inspiration:
Share your ideas on art journalling or any book over on the book club forum. Looking forward to seeing you there..
