Psst… calling craft and book agents! This month marks the start of Woollywotnots Online Craft Book Club and a Monthly Reading Challenge. Do you accept this mission?
You do? Right, your first task is to make contact with our person on the ground: your local librarian, who will provide you with advice on how to get a hold of crafty books. You can also exchange books via book club members or purchase online either second hand or brand new eg. from Amazon. This link contains your reading mission. Open it somewhere private to keep the contents secret.
Obviously I can’t give too much away at this point; you never know who’s reading over your shoulder. I can tell you that there will be five missions in total and each one will test your powers of creativity, craft ability and ingenuity:
Mission 1: Is this a subject area you knew anything about before? If so, were you surprised by any facts introduced in this book? If not, were you surprised by how interested you were in it?
Mission 2: Has the book changed your opinion of a particular topic?
Mission 3: How do you think the author treated the subject? Was the material presented in an interesting and thought-provoking way? How did the author achieve this?
Mission 4: How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?
Mission 5: Make or do something as a result of the book and share the results on the forum.
You’ll also be expected to read books, discuss ideas, make things, chat, make friends, have fun and use the top secret world wide web to spread the word about how great books are and to join the Woollywotnots arts and crafts book club.
Some of you will not make it but, for those who do, there will be the chance for medals along the way, certificates, competitions and the glory which comes from achieving something wonderful from arts and crafts.
There’s never been a better time to be a reader. There are so many brilliant books out there waiting to be discovered.
Whether you like paper crafts, developing your craft business, sewing, crotchet, journaling or knitting there is definitely a book for you …should you choose to accept the mission!
